after attending private school for a year (PG year at Cushing Acadmey woo) i can easily say investing in a Brita was one of the key purchases of the year. Both myself and my roomate hated having to pay for water every week and dealing with all the bottles laying around. It was always nice having cold refreshing water and not having to countdown the bottles till the end of the pack. (plus everyone else on our floor stopped asking us for water bottles)

actually, in my town, the whole “inkjets are more expensive in the long run” isnt true. there are a few stores that will trade you full ink cartridges for empty ones and it only costs $2. its pretty fantastic. then they just refill the cartridges and sell them again.

If your school doesn’t allow you to have Microwaves in your room, I suggest a water heater for things like oatmeal, ramen noodles (essential), hot chocolate, etc. I’ve had luck with this one, its cheap and really fast: http://www.amazon.com/Sunbeam-Hot-Shot-Beverage-Machine/dp/B00006IUZ5
